【in time / on timeについて】

●　朝食に間に合うように起きなかったのでお腹が空いている。
I’m hungry because I didn’t get up in time for breakfast.

「in time」 =　ゆっくり間に合う事
Before a fixed time
early enough
before it is too late
⇒　 時間に遅れずに、間に合う意味合い。
また「Just in time」はギリギリで間に合う

１．He made it in time.　（彼は時間内に間に合った。）
２．We finished our report just in time.
（ギリギリでレポートが終わった。）

「on time」 = 時間通りに、justは不要
The train arrived at the station on time.
=arrived at the scheduled time.

⇒　時間を守り、「ちょうどその時間」の意味合い。

１．Make sure you are here on time for the meeting.
（ミーテングには時間をしっかりと守るように）
２．My daughter is never on time.
（娘は時間を絶対に守らない）

<比較しましょう＞

I arrived in time.（間に合うように着いた。）
I arrived on time.（時間通りに着いた）

I finished my report in time.（私はレポートを時間内に
終わらせた。）
I finished my report on time.（私はレポートを
時間通りに終わらせた）
