「我々は重大な立場に直面しています。」
2. My family is up against a big problem.
「私の家族は大きな問題に直面している。」
3.I am up against a difficulty.
「困難な事に直面している。」
●( be) up againstはlean on / facing 直面すると言う意味ですが
他にもput the boxes up against the wall.のように
「箱を壁に向けて置きなさい。」のような使い方も出来ます。
● また警察に止められ車から出るように言われ
Put your hands up against the car.と言われたら
「車に向かって両手をボンネットの上に置きなさい。」であり
「車に向かって両手を挙げなさい。」という意味ではありません。
状況に応じて意味をしっかり把握しましょう。
