多くの人達が橋の上で暗くなるのを待っていましたので
その理由を聞く為に話しかけています。）
Billy: So what’s the deal with everyone standing on the bridge?
Did someone decide to cut it short?
「橋の上に たくさんの人が集まっているけど,どうしたの？
誰かが亡くなったとか？」
Stranger: No, but that has happened on a few occasions.
All those people are waiting for the bats to fly out.
「そうじゃないけど、そう言う事も何度かはあったよ。
あの人達はコウモリが飛び立つのを待っているんです。」
Billy: Bats! This must be some kind of joke; you are pulling
my leg, aren’t you?
「コウモリだって！それ冗談でしょう。僕をからかって
いるんでしょう？」
Stranger: Nope, they hang around in the summer and when the
weather gets rough they fly the coop and head for Mexico.
Boy, I wish I could say that.
「いいえ、コウモリは夏場はここにいるけど、気候が
厳しくなると巣を出てメキシコの方に飛んで行くんです。
ああ、僕もそう言えたらいいけどね。」
Billy: No shit! What’s there like a hundred or something?
「マジで！どのくらいいるの？100匹ぐらい？」
Stranger: You are way off.
This year there are a million and a half and counting.
「とんでもない。今年は150万匹を超えているんだよ、
そして増え続けてる。」
Billy: Wow! I got to see this with my own eyes but thanks
for the info.
「それは凄い！自分の目で確かめなくちゃね。

Stranger: No problem. Sun goes down here comes the bats.
「どういたしまして。日が沈むとコウモリ出てくるよ。」
